Thanksgiving Horror Movie: Blood Rage

Read this Thanksgiving Horror Recommendation for Blood Rage!

While his mom is getting it on with her boyfriend at a drive-in theater, a young boy commits a vicious murder and blames it on his twin brother. 10 years later, it is Thanksgiving, and his brother has escaped from a mental institution. Old feelings start to bubble up, and an epic bloodbath ensues!

Keep your eyes open and don’t miss the cameo from Ted Raimi as the condom salesman entrepreneur at the drive-in!

What We Thought About it:

Blood Rage started out feeling like a cheesy B-movie, and don’t get me wrong; it still does in parts throughout, but boy, oh boy, does it get fun. Without spoiling anything, it has some truly surprising and inventive kills. Oops, did I give too much away by saying that people die in a horror movie? My bad. This film also has some GREAT Thanksgiving wordplay such as, “That’s not cranberry sauce!” That line will live forever with me.

A Word About the Cast:

Let’s be real; we have all seen some over-the-top acting and lackluster performances from 80s horror films. That is not the case in Blood Rage. Everyone brought their A-game to this film.

Mark Soper pulls double duty as twins Terry & Todd. His portrayal of each brother with entirely different personalities is excellent. You almost feel like they are real-life twins until you see a shot with both of them in the frame and the body double is wearing a horrible wig.

Louise Lasser plays the boys’ mother, who, not so slowly, starts to unravel. She really goes all out in her performance. It’s so incredibly nuanced that you may even question her true life sanity while you watch. It’s that authentic.

The supporting cast brings it as well, playing each archetype perfectly.

In Summary:

All though Blood Rage takes place on Thanksgiving, the holiday is not the main focus of the film. That being said, this may be the perfect movie to cozy up on the couch with family and remind them how grateful they should be that you are not a psychotic murderous twin…as far as they know. Enjoy and Happy Holidays! 🔪
