April Fools Day: Horror Movie Watch List
It’s April Fool’s Day! It’s time to trick your family and friends! There are really only a few movies that are on April Fool’s Day (only one worth watching). So, here’s a list of fun horror movies to watch this holiday that includes pranks and hi-jinx! GOTCHA!

April Fool’s Day (1986): A group of nine rich college students stay at a friend’s remote island estate and begin to disappear. No one is safe and nothing is what it seems!
This is an 80s classic and I thought it was a lot of fun! Rumor has it Sony has picked a good day to announce their remake of cult horror April Fool’s Day, which is set for a 2022 release from director Jay Baruchel.

The Burning (1981): A prank by a group of kids at a Summer camp goes horribly wrong and leaves a camp counselor in a horrific state. Years later he presumably returns to seek his revenge.
If you’re looking for 80s camp horror you’ve found it and there’s a pretty epic scene coming your way!

Carrie (1976): The incredible Sissy Spacek plays Carrie White, a shy, innocent teenage girl who is abused by her terrifying, religious mother (Piper Laurie), and is tormented by the kids at school for being different. Ultimately, Carrie gets her revenge when she is pranked at high school prom and unleashes her telekinetic powers! You really can’t go wrong with this Brian de Palma classic.

Don’t Hang Up (2016): Two young guys want to attain internet fame for pranking. It all goes horribly wrong a stranger turns their own game against them seeking revenge.

Heathers (1989): At Westerburg High all the cliques rule and the most popular girls are all named Heather. A prank gone wrong starts a spiral of events for Veronica (Winona Ryder) and her mysterious boyfriend J.D. (Christian Slater) and it’s up to Veronica to make things right!

Jawbreaker (1999): What starts out as a fun prank on their best friend’s birthday ends in tragedy, cover-up. The incredible cast includes Rose McGowen, Rebecca Gayheart, Judy Greer, Tatyana Ali, Carol Kane, and Pam Grier! With a cameo from P.J. Soles (Halloween)!

Joy Ride (2001): Lewis (Paul Walker) picks up his brother Fuller (Steve Zahn) after his release from jail. On their way to pick up Lewis’ girlfriend (Lee Lee Sobieski), they prank a trucker on their CB radio. Everything falls apart when the trucker finds out the truth. It’ll change how you feel about hearing the words “Candy Cane”.

Pledge Night (1990): A college frat in the middle of hazing their new pledges during “hell week” brings upon a vengeful spirit who died during a hazing gone wrong 20 years prior.
Pledge Night came out at the start of the 90s and still has that 80s camp and fun.

Hello Mary Lou: Prom Night II (1987): Mary Lou Maloney’s tortured spirit takes revenge thirty years later on the same high school responsible for her death in 1957.
She will enter your body and possess you!

Scare Campaign (2016): In this Australian film, a production team sets up a location to scare and prank people. Things take a wrong turn when they set up an abandoned asylum and the creepy guy who used to work there arrives…

Sorority Row (1999): A group of sorority sisters play a prank on their sister’s boyfriend after he’s been caught cheating. The prank goes wrong and they cover up the death of their house-sister. only to be stalked by a killer hell-bent on revenge.
This movie is fun! Gives me I Know What you Did Last Summer vibes.

Terror Train (1980): This 80s horror classic stars Jamie Lee Curtis and takes place three years after a prank went horribly wrong. The college kids responsible are targeted by a disguised killer during a New Year’s Eve party on a moving train.

Thriller (2018): Produced by Blumhouse, a childhood prank gone wrong comes back to haunt a group of South Central LA high school kids. Their prank victim returns home four years later and presumably takes out his revenge during their high-school Homecoming weekend.
Including performances from RZA and Tequan Richmond (Everybody Hates Chris).

Tormented (2009): In this UK film, a bullied teen presumably returns from the dead to take revenge on his classmates for their incessant pranking and torture.

Urban Legend (1998): What starts out as innocent pranks take a deadly and dark turn when Natalie (Alicia Witt), a college student, suspects a series of bizarre deaths are connected to urban legends.
This movie is so fun and in times self-referential. The cast also includes most of the 90s “IT” heartthrobs including Jared Leto, Rebecca Gayheart, Joshua Jackson, and Tara Reid! Also including horror icons Robert Englund and Danielle Harris!
