A Beginner’s Guide to Christmas Horror!
Ho, Ho, Ho, Horror! ‘Tis the season to get Scary! Want to take a stab at Horror movies? While you may not think of the winter season as a traditional scary movie season, there are tons of holiday horrors to go around. This list isn’t a “Best Of”, but more of a sampling of awesome Christmas horror movies to help guide you into the genre. So, if you need a break from binging all the Holiday Hallmark movies out there, here are three-holiday horrors that can help fill your silent nights with screams (and laughter).
(Rating system is 1-5, 5 Being the scariest. But all of these titles are on the milder side of horror if you are an avid horror watcher)
ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE
It’s Christmas time in the small town of Little Haven, and this year Santa is bringing Zombies! Anna and her friends will have to fight, sing, and dance their way to survival.
This is a multifaceted film. It’s horror. It’s a comedy. It’s also a musical (with some pretty great original music). It’s also a holiday movie. Like a holiday Fruitcake, there is a little something for everyone.

GREMLINS
It’s 1984 and Billy just got the most unique Christmas gift from his father. While cute and fluffy, Billy starts to realize if he doesn’t follow certain rules his adorable new pet will go from the good list to the naughty list.
Gremlins has become a pop culture classic. You’ve probably heard someone use “the rules” in real-life conversation even if you haven’t seen the movie. Also, similar to Die Hard or Home Alone, Gremlins has also become a holiday classic and a viewing tradition for many.

KRAMPUS
You better watch out, you better not cry, you better not pout, I’m telling you why…cause Krampus is coming to town and unlike Santa who leaves fun toys for good girls and boys, Krampus works exclusively off the Naughty List. You Do NOT want to be on Krampus’s list!
Tying an ancient legend to modern times, this holiday film mixes comedy and horror while still keeping in theme to lessons learned in traditional holiday films about family and learning to appreciate what you have. Not to mention, this film includes Oscar nominees like Toni Collette and comedy-heavy hitters like Adam Scott, Allison Tolman, and David Koechner. It’s truly a perfect blend of drama and comedy.
