Horror Movie Recommendation:
The Wretched
We stumbled upon The Wretched looking for a good horror movie to watch on Hulu and it turned out to be a horror movie lover’s dream! Dark tones, smart writing, a fresh plot, twists, and oh yeah, it is scary as heck!
The Plot
Ben is spending the Summer with his dad in a small lakeside town. Things become less peaceful as he begins to suspect something evil going on at his neighbor’s house. Along with his new friend, Mallory, Ben must figure out what is really going on before it is too late for the young child that lives next door.
I do not want to say much more than that. There are so many fantastic twists and turns in this film you really just need to watch for yourself and enjoy the ride!
Starring: John-Paul Howard, Piper Curda, Zarah Mahler, and Jamison Jones
Written and Directed by: Brett Pierce and Drew T. Pierce
Our Thoughts
The Wretched is easily one of the top films we have seen in a long time. It truly leaves you hanging on the edge of your seat. You will definitely want to go back and watch for things you may have missed. The Pierce brothers researched folklore and created their own spin. Making what was once old into something new…and it’s very, very captivating!
Released in the midst of the Covid Pandemic where it gained some streaming steam and became a box office hit, The Wretched is one of those movies that we finished watching and thought, “Why is no one talking about this?!!” We hadn’t heard of it on other horror blogs or boards. So, we are definitely sharing that it’s a must see! It’s a film you’ll be talking about for quite awhile, we do!
Streaming: Netflix, Hulu, AMC+, and is available for rental.
