Christmas Horror:
American Horror Stories –
The Naughty List
Are you looking for a quick bite to get you into the Christmas horror spirit? We’ve got you covered like the plastic couch you had to sit on at your grandparent’s house.
American Horror Stories is a spin-off of the FX/Ryan Murphy & Brad Falchuk series, American Horror Story. The difference being that “Stories” is an anthology series, consisting mostly of 38-minute one-off episodes. Do not worry, the feel and tone of the original series is still there, with a few callbacks sprinkled around. One of the episodes, in particular, resonates better in December, as it is, you guessed it, the Christmas episode.
Warning: The following contains light spoilers if you want to go in cold, but
nothing major.
The Naughty List
Four social media influencers live in a party mansion and post videos of their crazy life. When one of their stunts goes too far they become in danger of losing fans, sponsors, and their house. So, they decide to switch gears. The next video they make pisses off the wrong Mall Santa, played by Danny Trejo. Trust me, you do not want to piss off Mall Santa Danny Trejo.
This episode is a lot of fun, gets you into the holiday spirit, and captures the feel of a classic slasher film. Oh, boy is there a lesson to be learned by the end. You do not need to have seen any of the other episodes to enjoy this one. But might I also suggest watching Episode 6: Feral?
We definitely recommend checking out the entire anthology series. You’ll see familiar faces such as Cody Fern, Billy Lourd, Dylan McDermott, and Matt Bomer (The Sinner). Along welcoming to the Murphy/Falchuk cast, the incredible talent of Kaia Gerber (Cindy Crawford’s daughter – they look so much alike. It’s crazy!) who also stars in American Horror Story: Double Feature.
Streaming: Available exclusively on FX on Hulu.
