Do you want to spend St. Patrick’s Day getting scared on your couch instead of drunk on a pub crawl (You can still get drunk on your couch)? Here is a list of Irish and St. Patrick’s Day Horror movies to get you into the spirit of St. Patrick (that are not The Leprechaun Franchise).

We have split the list into two categories: St. Patrick’s Day THEMED and IRISH-MADE horror movies both in alphabetical order.

St. Patrick's Day Horror

Holidays (2016): This film makes it onto most of our holiday lists. It is a fun and chilling anthology that covers a widespan of different holidays. Each segment is made by a different Director, including Kevin Smith.

“Stop Smiling” is the St. Patrick’s Day vignette. A teacher finds out she is pregnant but with what exactly?

Into the Dark: Crawlers (2020): A group of pub patrons go out to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and they must band together to fight off body-snatching aliens.

This is an episode of the Blumhouse produced Hulu Series Into The Dark. Each episode is its own feature-length movie.

Maniac Cop (1988): A serial killer dressed as a police officer goes on a killing spree in New York City!

Part of this classic movie occurs during St. Patrick’s Day and even has a scene that takes place during the New York’s famous St. Paddy’s parade.

The film stars Tom Atkins ( The Fog, Night Of the Creeps) and Bruce Campbell (everything you love). So what more do you need?

Muck (2014): On St. Patrick’s Day, a group of friends is faced with one choice; stay inside and be hunted or go into the marsh and face something potentially much, much worse.

Red Clover (2012): There is a legend that if you pick a red clover you will unleash an ancient evil spirit in the form of a leprechaun. Well, Karen just found one. She has 4 days to stop the terror in her small town before it is too late.

Starring Courtney Halverson (Unfriended, True Detective) and Billy Zane (Twin Peaks, Titanic, The Phantom).

Irish-made Horror Movies:

A Dark Song (2016): A grieving mother hires an occultist to try to make contact with her son that has passed on. It works but is it truly what she wanted?

The setting for this film is an old large house in the Irish countryside. It is beautiful, dark, and scary. A great combination.

The Canal (2014): A film archivist for the police questions everything he knows when vintage footage of a killer shows the same man that murdered his wife.

The Cured (2017): A unique take on zombie films, starring Elliot (Ellen) Page (Juno, Hard Candy, Inception). In a post-zombie outbreak world, a cure has been discovered, reverting people back to their living state. The “cured” are treated like outcasts that may turn back at any time.

St. Patrick's Day Horror

The Devil’s Doorway (2018): Two priests are sent to investigate and document the strange happenings in a home for “fallen women.” What they find is not the work of their own faith.

This film is set in the 1960s and is also shot in a sixties style. It is a very nice throwback.

The Hallow (2015): A family moves from London to a small town in Ireland. They soon find out that fairy tales are not always what they seem when the inhabitants of the woods come to pay them a visit.

The Hole In The Ground (2019): A mother moves herself and her son to the Irish Countryside. If you have been reading this whole list so far, you know that that seems to be a bad idea. She soon begins to fear that the boy is no longer her son and that he has been replaced by something more devious through a sinkhole in the backyard.

In Fear (2013): Tom invites Lucy, the cute girl he met at a bar, and her friends to a music festival in the woods (stop going into the woods in Ireland!). They begin to be chased by an unknown assailant. They must do everything they can to survive this encounter.

The Lodgers (2017): Rachel and Edward are Orphaned twins. They are bound to their family home, where they are being plagued by the sins of their forefathers.

Set in a spooky old house in, you guessed it, an Irish woodland.

Stitches (2012): A party clown who never got respect alive comes back to get it after he dies. Stitches the clown, played by Irish comedian Ross Noble, died during a prank gone wrong at a children’s party. Now he is back to seek his revenge.

Wake Wood (2009): Patrick and Louise tragically lose their daughter to a brutal dog attack. An ominous society offers to perform a ceremony that would bring her back for three days, in exchange for their loyalty. When things start to go wrong and the couple tries to break their pact, they soon find that there were more strings attached than they thought.

Grabbers (2012): An alien invasion threatens the lives of the residents of a small town in Ireland. When the townspeople discover that the body-snatching aliens hate alcohol, they determine the best course of action is to get and stay drunk.
