New Exorcist sequel in the works!
David Gordon Green, who is behind the new Halloween franchise and the Hellraiser TV series coming to HBO, has been announced to direct this new Exorcist sequel!!
The idea of Blumhouse getting together with Green is very exciting! Jason Blum (Blumhouse) is known for taking a small budget film and making it look like tens of millions of dollars were spent. The original Paranormal Activity cost $15,000 to make and is one of my top haunting movies. Green went from directing comedies like Pineapple Express and Your Highness to indie dramas like Joe and Prince Avalanche to the rebooted Halloween franchise showing his depth and range as a filmmaker.
The Exorcist, originally directed by William Friedkin, is known as one of the scariest supernatural horror movies of all time and caused quite the controversy during its original release. The film had to be recut after receiving an original rating of X and was even nominated for several Academy Awards including Best Picture! The Exorcist has had numerous sequels and even a prequel over the years. The question is, where will this one fall, and when will it take place? Is it going to be a direct sequel to the original 1973 film, a reboot of sorts, or even a sequel to Exorcist 3? We will keep you updated as more news becomes available!
